Erlang/OTP 17.5 is a service release on the 17 track with mostly bug fixes, but is does contain a number of new features and characteristics improvements as well

[ANN] Erlang/OTP 18.0-rc1 is available for testing.

Erlang/OTP 18.0-rc1 is available for testing. This is an alpha release, which will be followed by a planned beta release in May and a final OTP 18.0 product release in June 2015.

What is Erlang?

Erlang is a programming language used to build massively scalable soft real-time systems with requirements on high availability. Some of its uses are in telecoms, banking, e-commerce, computer telephony and instant messaging. Erlang's runtime system has built-in support for concurrency, distribution and fault tolerance.

OTP is set of Erlang libraries and design principles providing middle-ware to develop these systems. It includes its own distributed database, applications to interface towards other languages, debugging and release handling tools.
